Dixie Chicks
Gouache and Colored Pencil on Board - Framed
Early in their career, the Dixie Chicks dressed as cowgirls and had a "country girls'' image. This gouche and pen painting is from after they had outgrown that and after the George Bush comment that made them loved or hated politically. I got quite a few photos of them in their Western look and wanted to show their softer side - that they're musicians, not politicians I put them in a setting where it's friendly and they have their instruments. I was going against the public perception of them at that time and put them back in the country girl setting.
