My art has been reproduced on golf towels for a while and the company that makes them wanted to move into tennis towels. We talked about creating a line of great tennis rivalry artwork and I decided to jump in with the first one being the current three-way rivalry in men's tennis between Novak Djokovic, Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal.
This is unique because it's all three dominating their sport instead of the traditional tennis rivalries that have usually been two players versus each other.
I decided to put Federer in the middle because he's been competing the longest and holds the record for Grand Slam titles. He is bookended by Djokovic and Nadal, and they are all three champions.
I painted them dressed in white like they would be in a Wimbledon final. The background is bright blue, a good complementary color for the flesh tones, which is the other prominent color in the piece.''
